Report: Giants to Add Running Back Ryan Torain
The Giants, who were in the process of bolstering their depth at running back with Kregg Lumpkin, are also expected to add veteran running back Ryan Torain as well, according to Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com.
Torain, 6-1, 218 lbs., spent the last two seasons with the Redskins, who happen to be the Giants’ next opponent. In 4 NFL seasons, the former Arizona State standout, who began his NFL career with Denver in 2008 before sitting out the 2009 season, has 1,011 rushing yards on 238 carries and six touchdowns in his career. He also has 24 catches for 148 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
With the team adding two running backs and having just one open roster spot, the Giants are expected to waive offensive lineman Selvish Capers and re-sign him to the practice squad once he clears waivers to fill the void that was created when the Giants released running back Joe Martinek.
