Williams, Phillips Doubtful for Monday Night

Just when the Giants thought they might be getting back some more healthy bodies in defense, they were thrown a curve ball.

Safety Kenny Phillips and linebacker Jacquian Williams were both listed as doubtful on the team’s official injury report for Monday night’s game against the Redskins.

Phillips practiced on a limited basis all week, had expressed confidence that he’d be able to play Monday night, but at the same time, he indicated he wasn’t happy with the course of rehab chosen for his now two-plus month old injury. If he is unable to play, the Giants are still expected to use the three safety package against the Redskins.

Williams, meanwhile, was less optimistic about his chances of playing when he spoke to reporters, saying that he was still experiencing soreness in his ailing knee.

Meanwhile, the Giants had a few new additions to their final injury report for the week. Tight end Travis Beckum was declared out with a knee issue. According to a source, Beckum, who tore his ACL in the Super Bowl, started experiencing soreness in his knee.

With Beckum out, rookie Adrien Robinson will likely be active for Monday night.

Safety Antrel Rolle (illness) and defensive end Justin Tuck (foot) were also added to the report, but both are listed as probable for Monday night despite neither one practicing.

Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (back), missed his second day of practice and was listed as questionable. He’ll likely play Monday night as part of a rotation that’s also likely to see Mathias Kiwanuka once again see time at defensive end.

Offensive lineman David Diehl (shoulder) and receiver Domenik Hixon (ankle) were also listed as questionable, both having practiced on a limited basis today. It would be a surprise if both suit up for this week’s game.

Rounding out the rest of the injury report, center David Baas (shoulder) and cornerback Jayron Hosley (shoulder) took their respective workloads in practice and are listed as probable.

Running back Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) took his usual limited workload and is also listed as probable.
