Nicks, Phillips Not Practicing

The Giants injury list appears to have grown by one today as receiver Hakeem Nicks was spotted in the rehab area at the start of practice instead of on the field warming up with his teammates.

Nicks, who was not on the team’s initial injury report, has battled knee and foot issues all season. He  also took a hellacious blow to his face in the Giants 17-16 loss to the Redskins, an injury that left him spitting out blood.

Also missing a second straight day of practice were safeties Kenny Philips (knee) and Tyler Sash (hamstring), and tight end Travis Beckum (knee).

Phillips, who played a small handful of snaps on Monday night, could be resting his ailing knee given the short week.  Still, his absence on Sunday could put a crimp in the Giants’ plans for their three-safety look that worked so well against Green Bay two weeks ago.

On the plus side, linebacker Jacquian Williams (knee) looks like he’ll at least be limited for a second straight day. Williams, who is trying to return from a PCL injury, was seen flying around during special teams drills, which was a positive sign for a unit that’s missed his presence.

Linebackers Michael Boley (shoulder) and Chase Blackburn (ankle) also looked like they were going to work again. Both were listed as limited  on Wednesday’s injury report.
