Hakeem Nicks Plans to Keep Fighting

Receiver Hakeem Nicks, who has battled health issues all season, admitted frustration with how things went for him last week.

Nicks, whose streak of 53 consecutive games played with at least one reception came to an end last week after four passes thrown his way fell incomplete, said he was disappointed in himself for not coming up with at least one of the passes.

“Being a playmaker you always want the ball, you always want the ball thrown at you, you always feel you can make the difference in a game,” he said. “I’ve always had that competitive drive in me.  I feel if I didn’t have that it would be time for me to step away from the game, but I know I ain’t nowhere near that phase.”

Nicks, who sounded iffy about his chances of playing on Sunday, was asked if he might have off-season surgery to repair his ailing knee.

“We’ll see,” he said, while also revealing that he hasn’t had any setbacks with his foot. “We have to go through another re-evaluation, but right now I think we’re counting on, banking on, just resting.  Once we rest we’ll see where it’s at.”
