Giants Roster Moves: Travis Beckum Placed on Injured Reserve

Tight end Travis Beckum, the former third round draft pick in 2009 who, despite having intriguing talent, was unable to stay on the field, has been placed on injured reserve.

Beckum, who was injured last year in the Super Bowl, opened the season on PUP before being activated to the regular season roster.

He played in just three games this year after being activated off of PUP, before finding himself inactive against Washington and the Saints. He played against Atlanta, , but was inactive last week, finishing the 2012 season with no catches on offense.

Beckum, who will be an unrestricted free agent after this year, has appeared in 48 games for the Giants, starting four. He has 26 career receptions for 264 yards and three touchdowns.

His only complete season was in 2010, his second in the league, when he played in all 16 games, posting single-season career highs of 13 catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

Cornerback Terence Frederick was signed off the Giants practice squad to take Beckum’s spot. And cornerback Brandon Bing, who had been with the Giants in the summer, was signed to the practice squad.
