Giants to host Pittsburgh in preseason opener.
The New York Giants, who earlier this week announced their four-game preseason schedule, now have a definite date and time set for their preseason opener with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The game, per the Steelers’ web site, will be Friday, August 11 at 7PM ET at MetLife Stadium.
With the date set for the Giants preseason opener, there is now clarity on when the Giants can open up training camp.
Per CBA rules, NFL teams can have their players report 15 days ahead of the first preseason game, in this case July 27, but can’t hold their first practice until at least 14 days before the preseason opener, July 28.
The Giants have not made any announcements about training camp, and head coach Ben McAdoo isn’t obligated to start things up on July 27 or July 28. Those decisions will be announced later in the spring.
The Giants’ second preseason game, at Cleveland, will be televised nationally by ESPN. That game will be held Monday, August 21 at 8PM ET.
The full preseason and NFL schedule is scheduled for release next week.
