The New York Giants announced they have signed offensive tackle Corin Brooks, an undrafted rookie who played his college ball at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

Brooks initially was with the Chiefs, with whom he signed as an undrafted free agent after this year’s draft. The Chiefs released him in June.

To make room for the 6-4, 305-pound Brooks, the Giants have waived/injured offensive tackle Jessamen Dunker, who had been one of their premium undrafted free agent signings. Dunker has missed most of camp with a foot injury.

Because the Giants have been down one offensive lineman, they’ve had to ask D.J. Fluker to pull double duty. Fluker, who has primarily been working at right guard with the second-string offensive line, recently added right tackle with the third string team, the position that Dunker had been slated to fill.

Brooks, from Riverside, California, played left tackle in college.
